ScribeXPPrivacy Policy
Effective December 28, 2026
The short version: ScribeXP keeps your data on your iPhone. There's no account, and we don't sell or share your personal information. Apple Health data is read on your phone, used only to check your quests, and never leaves it. The only thing the app sends us is a bug report, and only when you write one and tap Send.
Who we are
ScribeXP is made by Dancing Pig Softworks LLC, an Idaho limited liability company ("we"). Contact us at support@scribexp.com.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you create in ScribeXP is saved only on your device: your hero, class, quests, check-in history, XP, titles, items you've unlocked, settings and arcade scores. We can't see it. It's included in your device's backups according to your own iCloud or computer backup settings.
Apple Health
If you allow it, ScribeXP reads workouts, step counts and sleep from Apple Health to check matching quests (for example "Walk 8,000 steps"). This happens on your iPhone. ScribeXP:
- never sends Health data off your device,
- never writes anything to Apple Health,
- never uses Health data for advertising, marketing or any purpose other than checking your quests,
- only counts data recorded by your devices, not entries typed in by hand.
You can turn off access any time in the Health app under Sharing > Apps.
Camera, location and Screen Time
If you use quests that need them:
- Camera: photo proofs are taken inside the app and kept on your device.
- Location: check-in quests (such as "Go to the gym") compare your location to the place you set, on your device only.
- Screen Time: quests such as "No phone after 10 PM" use Apple's Screen Time framework, which tells the app only whether a limit was reached. We never see which apps or websites you use.
Each of these asks for your permission first, and ScribeXP works without them. Those quests are then marked as self-reported.
Purchases
ScribeXP Pro and store items are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment, and we don't receive your payment details. The app checks your purchases with Apple on your device to unlock what you bought.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, check-in reminders are scheduled on your device. No notification data is sent to us.
Bug reports
When you use Hero › Report a bug and tap Send, the app sends us what you typed, the area you picked, which screen you were on and, if you gave one, your email address so we can reply. If "Include diagnostics" is on (you can turn it off), it also sends the app version, iOS version, iPhone model, your current day and level, and your last check-in receipt number. It never sends your hero's name, photos or health data.
The report passes through our server (hosted by Supabase) and is delivered to our inbox by our email provider (Resend). Neither keeps it beyond delivering it. We keep reports in our inbox only to fix bugs and reply, and we'll delete yours on request.
Crash reports
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with us. We use them only to fix bugs. ScribeXP contains no third-party analytics or advertising software.
Children and age
ScribeXP is for ages 13 and up, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Where the law requires it (for example in Texas), the App Store checks your age and may ask a parent or guardian to approve downloads, purchases and significant updates. The app then receives only your age category from Apple (under 13, 13 to 15, 16 to 17, or 18 and over), never your birth date. It uses that category only to follow the law: anyone under 13 can't use the app, and players under 18 aren't asked for a reply email in bug reports. The category stays on your phone and is never sent to us or anyone else.
Deleting your data
Use Hero > "Start over with a new hero" to erase your progress, or delete the app to remove all of its data from your device.
Changes
When we add online features such as friends, leaderboards or photo referees, they will need an account and a server. We'll update this policy before they launch and ask for your consent in the app.
Emails you send us
If you email us, for support or to join the launch waitlist, we keep your email address and message only to reply and, for the waitlist, to send launch news. We don't sell or share them. Ask us to remove you at any time.
Your rights
Apart from bug reports you choose to send, the app doesn't send us personal information. If you've sent a bug report or emailed us, we'll delete it and your address on request. Questions are always welcome at support@scribexp.com.
